The Financial Intermediation Research Society (FIRS) is pleased to announce that its next conference will be held in Berlin, Germany, on May 29-31, 2024. You are invited to submit papers to be considered for presentation. Theoretical, quantitative, and empirical papers in all areas of finance are welcome.
The conference will begin in the afternoon on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, and continue with two full days of sessions on Thursday and Friday, May 30-31, 2024. A conference dinner will take place in the evening of Thursday, May 30. The conference venue is the InterContinental Berlin. The keynote address will be given by Albert S. “Pete” Kyle, the Charles E. Smith Chair Professor of Finance at the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business.
As in past years, the 2024 FIRS Conference will hold two special sessions for Ph.D. students. Each selected paper will be discussed by a seasoned researcher in a session open to all FIRS participants. To be eligible, the submitting author must be a Ph.D. student who is not on the job market in 2023-24, and all the authors of the submitted paper must currently be Ph.D. students. Also, as part of the submission process, the submitting author will be asked to provide the name and email address of their thesis advisor.
All fields in finance will be considered. Conference fees will be waived for students whose paper is accepted for these special sessions, and FIRS will reimburse these students up to $1,000 to cover travel and hotel expenses.
In addition, the Journal of Financial Intermediation will be sponsoring a $5,000 JFI/FIRS Award for the conference’s best paper submitted to the Ph.D. student sessions. The award-winning paper will be selected jointly by the Board of the Financial Intermediation Research Society and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Financial Intermediation.
