Cornell University’s SC Johnson College of Business is pleased to announce the 2022 Conference on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Investing on 20-22 of July, 2022. The conference will take place in person in the picturesque Finger Lakes setting of Ithaca, NY, beginning with an evening reception on Wednesday the 20th and ending with a breakfast meeting on Friday the 22nd.

Sponsored by Cornell’s Parker Center for Investment Research, Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise, and Investing@Cornell Interdisciplinary Theme, the conference is designed for finance faculty who are currently working on research in ESG investing and investment professionals managing ESG assets. Priority will be given to researchers who are studying challenges currently faced by investors, including defining, measuring, and implementing ESG investment mandates.

The conference will feature 5-7 high quality paper presentations, practitioner panels, and a keynote speaker focused on ESG issues. Distinguished members of the finance profession and practitioners will provide feedback to presenters and discuss issues in ESG investing and opportunities for further research.

The goals of the Conference are to:
– Present new and unpublished research of high quality
– Bring together researchers and practitioners

PAPER SUBMISSION PROCEDURE: There is a $50 submission fee. Papers must be received in a PDF format by Thursday, March 31st, 2022. Decision notices will be sent by the first week in May. To submit a paper visit the conference website: https://2022cesg.splashthat.com/

ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA: Submissions will be selected on a competitive basis, with priority given to research with practical implication. Criteria will include the nature of the research problem, implications of the proposed research, the quality of the research design, and the expected contribution of the research to the literature and industry practice. Papers will be evaluated by both an internal Cornell committee and the external program committee.


BEST PAPER AND DISCUSSANT PRIZES: Best paper and best discussant prizes will be awarded.

NOTE: This conference will be in-person but is subject to change based on NYS and Cornell University public health guidance.
