CESifo invites submissions to the 2021CESifoArea Conference on Macro, Money, and International Finance. The purpose of this event is to bring together researchers who are working in the areas of macroeconomics and money to present and discuss their ongoing research and to stimulate interaction and cooperation between them. Submissions may deal with any topic in Macro, Money, and International Finance. In terms of methodology a broad range of papers ranging from continuous time macrofinance to reducedform analysis are invited. All papers presented at the conference will appear in the CESifo Working Paper Series.

Please note that the same paper can only be submitted to one of the CESifo Area Conferences. Papers which are more related to the topic of other Area Conferences may be redirected to the respective Area Director.


CESifo Research Fellows are invited to submit nominations for the Distinguished CESifo Affiliate Award, given to the candidate presenting the best paper at the conference. Nominees for this award,aimed at encouraging talented young scholars, must beno more than five years after having completed their Ph.D. (The same limit applies to coauthors in the case of papers with multiple authors).It is not mandatory for candidates to be from the research network. The criteria for the award are scientific originality, policy relevance, and quality of exposition.The winning paper will appear in the CESifo Working Paper Series and the prize winner will receive a €2,000 prize. To nominate a candidate, a CESifo Research Fellow must submit the nominee’s paper to Markus Brunnermeier (markus@princeton.edu)along with a brief letter explaining the motivation for the nomination. The deadline for nominations is 8 June 2021
