Description:

The University of Glasgow, Adam Smith Business School, the European Central Bank and the International Banking Research Network are jointly organizing a workshop entitled “Financial Stability and Regulation: Recent Policy Challenges” which will be held at the premises of the Adam Smith Business School in Glasgow on March 31st, 2025. This one-day workshop aims to bring together experts from academia and policy organizations to discuss current issues in banking, financial innovation and financial inclusion and their implications for financial stability and bank regulation. The workshop will provide an opportunity for presentations and discussions in a highly interactive environment. Each paper will also be assigned a discussant.

The contributions on topics related – but not limited – to the following themes are particularly welcome:

  • Non-bank financial institutions and financial stability risks
  • Non-bank financial institution responses to liquidity shocks
  • Implications of bank funding instability for regulation
  • Digitalization in the banking sector and policy challenges, including more volatile
    deposits
  • Funding shocks and the stability of the banking sector
  • Assessment of the effectiveness of financial sector regulation and supervision;
    reform evaluation
  • Financial stability implications of bank specialization and concentration

Submission:

Please submit completed papers on these themes to ecb-glasgow-financial-stability-and-regulation-workshop@glasgow.ac.uk by 23:59 (GMT) Friday, January 31st , 2025.

There is no conference fee, but participants are expected to cover their travel and accommodation expenses.
