Description:
With public debt levels rising across Europe and the world and defense spending mounting, fiscal policy has been front and centre in the European economic policy debate.
The conference seeks to encourage collaboration on all aspects of the macroeconomics of fiscal policy.
We invite cutting-edge academic research on fiscal policy, including theoretical and empirical contributions. Contributions using novel data, advanced empirical methods, or new theoretical frameworks are particularly encouraged.
Topics include, but are not limited to:
- Fiscal uncertainty and tail risks
- The macro implications of public debt
- Empirical effects of public spending, taxes and debt
- Fiscal policy in general equilibrium macro models
- Fiscal-monetary interactions
- Optimal fiscal policy
- Fiscal policy and economic growth
Submission:
The workshop will take place in person on 15-16 October 2026, at the European University Institute in Florence.
The deadline for paper submission is 23:59 (BST) 10 July 2026. We welcome full papers, advanced drafts, and substantial work in progress that is close to completion. Travel and local accommodation for speakers and discussants from academic institutions will be offered travel funding according to the CEPR travel guidelines.
