MIT’s Golub Center for Finance and Policy (GCFP) is inviting paper submissions for its 9th annual conference, this year on the theme of Building and Regulating the New Financial Infrastructure. The focus will be on how new technologies are reshaping financial services, and the implications for how regulatory policies must be rethought and reshaped. This conference will be held in-person at the MIT Media Lab (75 Amherst Street, Building E14) in Cambridge, MA.
Suitable topics include but are not limited to: impacts of new technologies on financial markets and intermediation; payment system innovation including the role for central bank digital currencies; implications for systemic risk; modernizing and harmonizing regulatory policies across borders; effect of innovative technologies on income distribution and equity; consumer protection; cybersecurity.
Both empirical and theoretical papers are welcome. The format is a short presentation, followed by comments from discussants and open conversation among participants.
Each year the MIT GCFP’s annual conference brings together leading academics, policy makers and practitioners to discuss research and new developments in a selected area related to one or more of the main research tracks of the Center:
· Evaluation and Management of Government Financial Institutions
· Regulation of Financial Markets and Institutions
· Measurement and Management of RiskThe mission of the MIT GCFP is to serve as a catalyst for innovative, cross-disciplinary and non partisan research and educational initiatives that address the unique challenges facing governments in their role as financial institutions and as regulators of the financial system.
