The Financial Intermediation Research Society (FIRS) is pleased to announce that its next conference will be held in Vancouver, Canada, on June 2-4, 2023. You are invited to submit papers to be considered for presentation. Theoretical, quantitative, and empirical papers in all areas of finance are welcome. It is anticipated that most participants will be from universities, central banks, regulatory agencies, and international organizations.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE FOR REGULAR SESSIONS:

FURTHER INFORMATION: The conference will commence in the afternoon on Friday, June 2, 2023, and continue with two full days of sessions on Saturday and Sunday, June 3-4, 2023. The keynote address will be given by Douglas W. Diamond, the Merton H. Miller Distinguished Service Professor of Finance at Chicago Booth. INFORMATION ABOUT PH.D. STUDENT SESSIONS: As in past years, the 2023 FIRS Conference will hold two special sessions for Ph.D. students. Each selected paper will be discussed by a seasoned researcher in a session open to all FIRS participants. To be eligible, you must be a Ph.D. student who is not on the job market in 2022-23, and it must be the case that all the authors of the submitted paper are currently Ph.D. students. Also, as part of the submission process, you will be asked to provide the name and email address of your thesis advisor. All fields in finance will be considered. Conference fees will be waived for students whose paper is accepted for these special sessions, and FIRS will reimburse these students up to $1,000 to cover travel and hotel expenses.

In addition, the Journal of Financial Intermediation will be sponsoring a $5,000 JFI/FIRS Award for the conference’s best paper submitted to the Ph.D. student sessions. The award-winning paper will be selected jointly by the Board of the Financial Intermediation Research Society and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Financial Intermediation. The award will be announced and presented as part of a special event at the conference.
