Description:

The HKIMR, BIS and IMF invite submissions for their joint conference on “Global
Interconnections and Financial Stability”, which will be held on 13-14 July 2026 in Hong Kong.
Elevated geopolitical tensions, shifting trade and financial flows, rising sovereign debt levels,
rising AI developments and a broadening in AI usage as well as the growing presence of non-
bank financial institutions in financial markets pose risks to financial stability, with both domestic
and international consequences. To address these risks, policymakers need to employ a judicious
mix of tools spanning fiscal, monetary and prudential policy. To shed light on risks to global
financial stability and potential policy responses, we invite submissions on topics that include
(but are not limited to):

  • The changing configuration of forces shaping global financial conditions and linkages
  • The impact of non-bank financial institutions on financial stability
  • The implication of rising sovereign debt on international monetary system
  • Challenges to financial stability posed by the evolving geopolitical landscape
  • Reconfigurations of trade and financial flows and implications for financial stability
  • The implications of digital assets, artificial intelligence and other innovations for financial
    stability

Submission:

We invite authors to submit completed papers or extended abstracts. The deadline for
submissions is 30 April 2026. Authors of accepted papers will be informed by 20 May 2026.
