Description:
The Bank of Italy, the Centre for Economic Policy Research and the Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance, invite submissions for a research conference on “Innovation and Finance”. The conference aims to bring together leading economists to discuss frontier research on the real and financial drivers of innovation. Particular attention will be given to how innovative firms emerge, are financed, and grow, as well as to the conditions that enable them to scale. We welcome both theoretical and empirical contributions on topics including, but not limited to:
- Financing of innovation and innovative firms
- Financial frictions, capital allocation, and constraints to innovative activity
- Firm dynamics and the life cycle of innovative firms: entry, start-up and scale-up
- Ownership, governance, and financial structures supporting innovation
- Science, innovation, and knowledge diffusion: technology transfer, patents, and spillovers
- Public policies and regulatory interventions to foster innovation
- Incentives, institutional and retail participation, financial literacy
Submission:
Authors should submit a complete paper in PDF format no later than July 15, 2026 by writing to innovation_finance@bancaditalia.it. Acceptance decisions will be announced by mid-September.
There is no registration fee, and meals during the conference and the social dinner will be provided for all participants. Economy-class travel and accommodation expenses for up to two nights will be covered for all successful applicants from academic institutions in accordance with CEPR guidelines.
