We are pleased to announce a Call for Papers for the workshop on the theme of “Environmental Finance for the Common Good”. This workshop is co-funded bythe Money Marco and Finance Society (MMF) and the Department of Management, Birkbeck College, University of London. This workshop will take place at Birkbeck College on March 31st and April 1st 2022, with simultaneous streaming as an online interactive event. We expect papers to be presented on-campus. If the health situation does not permit group gathering, the workshop will be converted into a virtual event.
This workshop aims to understand the investment implications of environmental and social factors across different economies to achieve greater common good. No country can afford to ignore the financial risks of climate change. The workshop will focus on various topics in environmental finance but aim to include studies from industrial countries and middle- and low-income countries. It provides a platform for all people working on environmental finance issues to discuss the latest insights and foster dialogue between academics and practitioners. The voice from “non-industrial countries” is often unheard. We hope to encourage diverse voices and promote positive change for all through this workshop.
We invite submissions of papers that focus on environmental finance, including research on sustainable investment, green finance, from all relevant stakeholders active in environmental markets. In particular, we encourage contributions from non-industrial countries. We welcome all aspects of research on the following topics but are not limited to:
- How firms respond to ESG issues
- How to build resilience to climate change impact in developing countries
- To identify emerging ESG issues from corporate sustainability disclosure
- Investing for impact
- ESG investing and integration
- Responsible investment: Exploring the social dimension of ESG
- Capital allocation to improve the sustainability of investments
- How to finance the environmental transition in developing economies
- The impact of green banks in mobilizing investments
The paper selection will represent a balanced view between industrial and non-industrial studies. Papers will be reviewed by members of the Program Committee. Authors of accepted papers are expected to be available to serve as discussants. The final program will be made available by March 15th 2022.
