The International Economic Association (IEA), the Banco de la República de Colombia (Central Bank of Colombia), and the Banco de España are organizing a webinar, “Pathways to Gender Equality in Central Banks,” to be held in May 18 and 19, 2022. This Webinar aims to promote diversity and inclusion in the profession of economics, specifically in central banks. The conference will be held online.
The Webinar
The Webinar will consist of three parts. The first part will focus on research studying inequalities and disparities (gender, race, geographical, among others) conducted by researchers in central banks. Several Central Banks have included diversity and inclusion topics in their research agendas, and this event will be a platform to show the results of these new lines of study. The second part will include papers from academics outside central banks studying the implications for central banking of the lack of diversity and inclusion in their institutions. Finally, the Webinar will end with a panel to promote communication and facilitate future interactions among researchers inside and outside central banks.
The event provides an opportunity for:
- Researchers from central banks to showcase their ongoing research on diversity and inclusion.
- Academics worldwide outside Central Banks to present their papers understanding disparities in central banking and highlighting the effects of practical steps to increase diversity.
