The deployment of services based on digital technologies in banking and finance is causing a deep transformation of the financial sector. New players such as payment service providers, lending platforms, cryptoasset providers and robo advisors are entering the market, and offering blockchain and AI-based innovative solutions to consumers to complete financial transactions. Various forms of competitive interactions between banks and alternative finance providers have started to emerge, giving rise to important challenges for regulators and competition authorities.
