This stringent selection process ensures the excellence and the high quality of the research presented at the conference.

The conference hosts 81 sessions over three days and serves as the venue for the EFA General Assembly. The conference also hosts two events for PhD students: the Doctoral Tutorial and Doctoral Workshop. These are closed events. The conference comprises several social events, which are excellent networking platforms.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Papers should be electronically submitted through the EFA 2020 website.

Each person is restricted to one submission. Papers will be anonymously reviewed by multiple members of the Program Committee. Authors will be notified of the Program Committee’s decisions by the end of April 2020. Authors of accepted papers are expected to be available to serve as session chairs or discussants.

Special sessions
The EFA 2020 Annual Meeting offers five sessions in collaboration with Academy of Finland, Bank of Finland, Bank for International Settlements, European Central Bank, and Norges Bank Investment Management.

Papers for the special sessions will undergo the same submission and review process as regular paper submissions. Submitting to special sessions means that you are submitting to the main conference. The papers for these special sessions will be chosen from the pool submitted to the EFA 2020 conference.

DOCTORAL EVENTS:

The EFA organizes two one-day pre-conference events for doctoral students on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. The EFA Doctoral Tutorial (DT) is intended for students who are nearing completion of their PhD and are about to enter the job market. The EFA Doctoral Workshop (DW) is for PhD students who are in their second or third year. The topic for the 2020 EFA-DW will be announced soon.

Submissions to these events run separately from the main conference. Applications should be submitted as of February 15 until March 15, 2020 (1pm Central European Time). More information can be found here.

Poster session for PhD students
Our objective is to support promising PhD students by offering them the possibility to present their research and to receive a high-quality reference that will be useful on the job market. Preference is given to students who are not on the job market in academic year 2019–20. Please also note that papers presented at the poster session can be co-authored by PhD students, but not by faculty members or anyone else with a doctoral degree.

Further Information:
You must be an EFA member for the 2020 calendar year in order to submit a paper to the EFA 2020 Annual Meeting. There is no additional submission fee beyond the EFA membership fee.
