Description:
In recent years, FinTech, or financial technologies, have been rapidly
developing and reshapingbusiness practices and the financial services
industry. In parallel, emerging technologies, e.g.,machine learning and big
data methods, have also been increasingly applied in the study offinancial
economics. Such developments have generated considerable interests in the
new andimportant research area of FinTech and emerging
technologies.Following the success of the first three FinTech conferences,
the Department of Finance in theRobinson College of Business at Georgia
State University and the Georgia FinTech Academy,together with the Review
of Financial Studies will jointly host the fourth annual FinTechconference.
The conference will be held on September 22-23, 2023 at the Buckhead Center
ofGeorgia State University in Atlanta. The conference is highly selective.
We received more than150 high-quality submissions for each of the past
three conferences and 12 papers are selectedeach year for the program.To
optimize interactions among researchers, we plan to hold the conference in
person.Nonetheless, we will keep safety in mind and follow the guidance
provided by the governmentat the time.We invite submission of theoretical
and empirical papers on the frontiers of FinTech andemerging technologies,
but not limited to, the following topics:- Novel analytic methods:
Applications of AI, machine learning, natural languageprocessing, and other
novel analytic methods in research for all areas of financialeconomics,
including corporate finance, asset pricing, and financial intermediation-
Big data: the use of alternative, unstructured, and big data in financial
research- Digital currencies: CBDCs, stablecoins, and related regulatory
and monetary policies- DeFi and blockchains: Decentralized financing
(DeFi), decentralized exchanges, andother applications of blockchainsIn

Submission:
Authors should submit an electronic version of the paper in PDF format no
later than June 15,2023. There is a submission fee of $50. Submission

Paper selection will be finalized by mid-August of 2023. TheRFS dual
submission decisions will be finalized before the conference dates in
February.
