Keynote speaker(s):
Itay Goldstein (University of Pennsylvania)
Organizer(s):
Georgia State University, Georgia FinTech Academy, and the Review of
Financial Studies
In recent years, FinTech, or financial technologies, have been rapidly
developing and reshaping business practices and the financial services
industry. In parallel, emerging technologies, e.g., machine learning and
big data methods, have also been increasingly applied in the study of
financial economics. Such developments have generated considerable
interests in the new and important research area of FinTech and emerging
technologies.
Following the success of the first two FinTech conferences, the Department
of Finance in the Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University
and the Georgia FinTech Academy, together with the Review of Financial
Studies will jointly host a third annual FinTech conference. The conference
will be held on February 18-19, 2022 at the Buckhead Center of Georgia
State University in Atlanta. The conference is highly selective. We
received around 300 high-quality submissions in total for the past two
conferences and 12 papers are selected each year for the program.
To optimize interactions among researchers, we plan to hold the conference
in person. Nonetheless, we will keep safety in mind and follow the guidance
provided by the government at the time.
We invite submission of theoretical and empirical papers on, but not
limited to, the following topics:
 	Emerging technologies and methods in corporate finance and investment
research
 	Machine learning and AI applications in financial economics
 	Analysis of big data (e.g., alternative, unstructured, and
high-dimensional data)
 	Textual analytics
 	Big data applications in novel topics such as climate finance, ESG, and
the Covid-19 pandemic
 	Blockchain technology, smart contracts, and digital currencies
 	Alternative lending technologies/models in FinTech
 	Financing innovations (e.g., crowdfunding, ICOs)
 	Disruption by FinTech on traditional financial services and implications
for the digital economy
 	Regulatory issues and challenges in FinTech
