The International Association of Deposit Insurers (IADI) invites research
papers for its 6th Biennial Research Conference to be hosted by the Bank
for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland and held virtually
during the week of 10-14 May 2021.
The theme for the Research Conference is “Navigating the New Normal for
Financial Stability, Deposit Insurance and Bank Resolution”. This
year’s theme takes into account how international crises continue to
shape the landscape for financial stability, deposit insurance and bank
resolution.  A decade past the global financial crisis, the world’s
financial system is in the midst of a new series of shocks and challenges
emanating from the COVID-19 pandemic.
This IADI Biennial Research Conference will provide a forum to take stock
of and explore the implications of these developments as well as examine
other issues influencing financial stability, deposit insurance and bank
resolution.
For the Research Paper sessions, the Program Committee invites theoretical
and empirical papers of relevance to deposit insurers and resolution
authorities. Topics of special interest include, but are not limited to:
COVID-19 impacts on bank risks, deposit insurance and resolution
Crisis management and bank restructuring
Fintech issues (e.g. e-money, digital currency and open banking)
Cyber-security risks
Climate change and impacts on financial stability and resolution
In addition to the above-mentioned topics, the organisers may consider
research in the general areas of bank supervision, regulation, resolution
frameworks and any other issues concerning financial stability.
The Conference will be conducted on a virtual basis,  spread over a number
of days and will include presentations by authors of selected research
papers and panel discussions by  practitioners. Each research paper will
be addressed by discussants. Ample time will be provided for audience
participation.
Research papers and panel presentations will be posted on the IADI Members
