Review of Financial Economics Special Issue: Labor and Corporate Finance
Guest Editor: David Mauer, Torrence E. Hemby, Sr. Distinguished Professor
of Finance, UNC at Charlotte
Labor is an important factor in corporate finance. There is a growing
interest in examining how labor influences and helps shape corporate
policies, including debt structure, payout policy, innovation activity,
hedging strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate restructuring. We
invite both theoretical and empirical papers on labor and corporate
finance. Suggested topics include, but are not limited to: unemployment
insurance, employee culture, labor mobility, labor networks, labor
relations, unions, right-to-work laws, skilled labor, noncompetition
agreements, employee equity compensation, labor-force heterogeneity, pay
inequality, contract negotiations, workforce competition, employee outside
options, pensions, and inalienability of human capital.
