The purpose of the conference is to further our understanding of the
impact, implications, and direction of FinTech, by fostering discussion
between academics, policy makers, and industry leaders. Agendas for prior
conferences are shown here:
TOPICS: We invite the submission of both theoretical and empirical research
on the applications of FinTech regarding, in particular, issues relating to
stablecoins, digital identity, financial intermediation, payments,
settlements, clearing and market infrastructure, and regulation. Examples
of relevant topics include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Economic implications of adoption of cryptocurrencies and other private
digital currencies, including stablecoins, by official and private entities
- Implementation and risks of digital identity
- Economics of data and privacy, including issues regarding governance,
distribution of rights, regulation and trust
- Application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to assist
inferences from non-traditional data
- Non-traditional credit intermediation (including alternative credit
scoring methods)
- Implications of FinTech applications for financial markets, including
payments and settlement systems (including cross-border payments and trade
finance)
- Implications of FinTech applications for regulatory compliance or
avoidance
- Regulatory challenges and innovations (e.g., digital identification and
sandboxes) in adapting to FinTech
- Market design considerations and use cases of distributed ledger and
blockchain technology

FinTechConference@ny.frb.org. Authors of accepted papers will be notified
by February 3, 2020.
