The FDIC’s Center for Financial Research is proud to host the annual Bank Research Conference, a gathering of academics, industry representatives and policymakers committed to the principle that policy should be informed by research.
The Bank Research Conference promotes topics related to the banking industry and the FDIC’s essential mission to maintain stability and public confidence in the nation’s financial system. Today, this conference has become a premier and highly competitive forum for bank research, attracting hundreds of submissions from authors of papers and posters on a multitude of topics.
The FDIC’s Center for Financial Research invites submissions for the 22nd Annual Bank Research Conference to be held on September 28 and 29, 2023 in Arlington, Virginia.
We invite theoretical and empirical papers on issues related to the performance and regulation of the financial sector, including:

- Capital and liquidity requirements
- Bank scale and scope economies, industry competition, and market structure
- Fintech and trends in financial products, services, and technology

- Finance and labor markets
- Interaction between regulation and the cost and availability of credit
- Climate-related financial risks
- Crypto assets
SUBMISSION: Paper and Poster submissions must be received by April 18, 2023. Authors will be notified about the status of their papers in July 2023.
OTHER INFORMATION: Expenses for travel, food, and lodging will be reimbursed for paper presenters.
Registration is open! You are invited to attend the 22nd Annual Bank Research Conference on September 28-29, 2023, at the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in Arlington, Virginia.
The two day in-person only event will be held in the Bair Auditorium at 3501 Fairfax Drive in Arlington, Virginia, and will feature research papers, a fast track session, and poster sessions on issues related to the performance and regulation of the financial sector. Registration closes on Thursday, August 31, or once we reach maximum capacity, so do not delay in submitting your registration form.
